SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Wofford softball team finished the Sparkle City Invite undefeated after defeating Holy Cross 4-3 and then Harvard 6-0. Wofford improves to 13-1 on the year and has now won 11 games in a row.

GAME ONE
Natalya Salo got the start in the first game of the day, earning her second win of the season in a 4-3 affair against Holy Cross. Salo went a full seven innings while only giving up two earned runs and striking out nine batters.
Brianna Stanley led the efforts at the plate, sending a ball to deep center field for a two-run homer.
Rivers Sampson went 2-of-3 with one RBI, and
Gracie Parker went 2-of-4 with one RBI as well.
Abbi Campbell went a perfect 3-of-3 from the plate with one run scored and a stolen base.

Neither team scored until the fourth inning, as Holy Cross registered two runs to take a 2-0 lead. Wofford responded in the fifth inning with an RBI single from
Rivers Sampson to drive in
Abbi Campbell. Later in the inning,
Brianna Stanley sent a two-run shot to centerfield, giving the Terriers a 3-2 lead. Another run from Holy Cross in the sixth inning tied the game at 3-all. In the bottom of the seventh,
Gracie Parker singled through the right side to score
Madison Thieke. Wofford would defeat Holy Cross 4-3 in walk off fashion – its first walk off win of the year.

GAME TWO
Abby Greenwood went the distance in game two, earning a complete game shutout for a 6-0 win over Harvard. Greenwood only allowed three hits on the day and struck out four batters. It is her first shutout of the season and improves her record to 5-0.
Brianna Stanley once again led the offensive charge, as the sophomore standout went 2-of-3 at the plate with three RBI.
Rivers Sampson followed behind with two hits, one run scored, and two RBI.
Addison Lucier had three hits, including her first homerun as a Terrier, to go along with two runs scored and an RBI.

Addison Lucier started things off for Wofford with a solo shot to right field.
Brianna Stanley followed that up with a sacrifice fly to right field, scoring
Rivers Sampson and putting Wofford up 2-0. In the second inning,
Rivers Sampson singled through the right side to score
Kate Platte and
Gracie Parker. With Wofford leading 4-0,
Brianna Stanley drove in
Addison Lucier and
Kate Platte to put Wofford up 6-0. The team was able to complete the shutout and earn a 6-0 win against Harvard.

Wofford will be back in action with a home matchup against USC Upstate on Tuesday, February 24, at 6:00 p.m. The team will then take a trip to Clemson, South Carolina, to compete in the Tiger Invitational on February 27-March 1.
