SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Wofford baseball team defeated Saint Joseph's to take home the first win of the three-game weekend series on Friday night at Russell C. King Field. The Terriers won 12-2 in eight innings to move 7-2 on the season.
"I thought
Kenny Michaels did great," said associate head coach
Pat Brown. "He laid out a really great game plan for the rest of the guys and gave them a good look on how they'll be successful against this team."
Starter
Kenny Michaels (3-0) pitched for seven innings, giving up only four hits and one run while striking out eight batters.
Corben Childers served as the relief to Michaels in the eighth inning. Childers pitched for one inning, giving up two hits and one run, while he struck out one batter.

Logan Tribble followed with one run, two hits and two RBI.
Ben Timblin contributed with one run, two hits, three RBI and one stolen base.
The first inning saw three quick outs from both teams. The Hawks had an opportunity in the second with a single to left field, but Michaels was quick to strike out the next two batters and force a flyout to centerfield to end Saint Joseph's chance to strike first.
Andrew Mannelly would bring in the first run of the night on a wild pitch after
Harrison Campi walked. The Terriers' run didn't end there, when moments later catcher
Lucas Manning tripled to bring in another run to give Wofford a 2-0 lead going into the third.
The Terriers didn't let down in the top of the third, bringing in two more runs from a
Logan Tribble single and a sacrifice fly to right field from
Ben Timblin to widen Wofford's lead to 4-0. Saint Joseph's first run would be a homer to right field to cut the Terriers' lead 4-1. Wofford's next four runs would come from four big hits and stolen bases by Campi and Mannelly to make it an 8-1 game going into the sixth. The Hawks would see one more run in the eighth inning from a triple to make it a 10-2 score. Wofford finished the game off in the bottom of the eighth when
