SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Wofford Defense Brooke Meltcher and Midfield Sara Fenwick have been named the Big South Women's Lacrosse Defensive Player and Freshman of the Week, respectively, for games played March 2 - March 8, as announced today by the league office. Furman's Shae Insigna was named offensive player of the week.

Meltcher, a junior from Wading River, New York, picked up a program record eight ground balls against Campbell. This performance pushed her into first place in program history for career ground balls. She sits first nationally for ground balls per game with  5.71. Against the Camels, she also caused two turnovers without losing the ball herself.

Fenwick, a freshman from Reisterstown, Maryland, had a perfect day of shooting against Campbell. Her two shots found the back of the net, bringing her season tally to five goals. The midfield has proven herself to be a reliable piece on both sides of the ball for Wofford this season. In her seven starts, she has provided six points, caused five turnovers, and shot a team-high 90.9 percent.

This is the second and third Player of the Week award this season for the Terriers, the fifth time in program history that two players received weekly honors in the same week. This is both players' first Player of the Week award for their careers.

Also nominated for Offensive Player of the Week: Sofia D'Angelo (Mercer), Alyssa Perez (Presbyterian), Madison Rogers (Longwood), Ava-Claire Collins (Winthrop), Carlie Cutinella (Wofford).

Also nominated for Freshman of the Week: Maddie Tredway (Gardner-Webb), Tiffany Kelly (Winthrop).

Wofford (1-5) will travel to Maryville, Tennessee, to face the Butler Bulldogs at Heritage High School on Friday, March 20, at 2 p.m.
