Sara Fenwick have been named the Big South Women's Lacrosse Defensive Player and Freshman of the Week, respectively, for games played March 15 - March 22, as announced today by the league office. Mercer's Caroline Glus was named offensive player of the week.
Meltcher, a junior from Wading River, New York, tied her own program record with eight ground balls against Butler. This marked her third straight game with eight ground ball. She continues to sit first nationally for ground balls per game with 5.89. She also set a new single game record for caused turnovers with seven in Friday's win over the Bulldogs.
Fenwick, a freshman from Reisterstown, Maryland, scored with two of her three shots against Butler to bring her to seven goals in her first season. Her two shots found the back of the net, bringing her season tally to five goals. In her nine starts, she has provided eight points, caused 11 turnovers, and shot 85.7 percent.
These are the fourth and fifth Player of the Week award this season for the Terriers, the sixth time in program history that two players received weekly honors in the same week. The duo received the same honors on March 10.
Wofford returns to action at home to start off conference play against Longwood on Wednesday, March 25. The Terriers will host the Lancers at 12 p.m. in Gibbs Stadium with all action streamed on ESPN+.
