JOHNSON CITY, TENN. – The Wofford College softball team won the first game of a Saturday doubleheader at East Tennessee State by a 15-3 score but dropped game two 7-4. The loss in the second game enabled ETSU to claim the weekend series at Betty Basler Field. Wofford falls to 28-15 with a 6-9 mark in conference action.

GAME ONE
Abby Greenwood pitched a full seven inning slate in the 15-3 victory, improving her record to 12-4 on the season. Greenwood allowed three runs on eight hits while striking out five batters. Leading the way offensively was
Kaytlin Greenwood.
Kaytlin Greenwood went 2-of-3 at the plate with two runs scored and a program record six RBI. She hit her second homer of the season as well.
Gracie Parker followed behind with a perfect 3-of-3 performance and three RBI.
Desirae Devine went 2-of-3 with a triple, a double, and two RBI.
Addison Lucier,
Brianna Stanley, and
Abbi Campbell finished with one RBI each as well. The 15 runs scored by Wofford were the second most in program history. The team scored eight runs in the seventh inning, which are the second most in a single inning in program history. The Terriers out hit ETSU 13-8. ETSU finished with one error with none from Wofford.

ETSU got on the board first with a solo shot in the first inning to take a 1-0 lead. Wofford responded in the second inning, however, as the team took a 2-1 advantage.
Kalli Petty walked to start the inning, and
Desirae Devine tripled to left center to score Petty and tie the game at one-all.
Kaytlin Greenwood laid down a squeeze bunt to send Devine home and put Wofford up 2-1. After a quiet third inning from both teams, Wofford added four more runs in the fourth. Both
Kalli Petty and
Gracie Parker singled to start the inning, leading to an RBI double from
Desirae Devine.
Kaytlin Greenwood followed that up with a three-run homer to left field, giving the Terriers a 6-1 lead.

Wofford scored another run in the top of the fifth after
Gracie Parker doubled to left center and scored
Kalli Petty. With the team up 7-1, ETSU found two runs in the bottom half of the fifth to cut the deficit to four. Both teams were scoreless in the sixth, but Wofford had an eight run seventh inning to put the game to bed. Both
Kate Platte and
Brianna Stanley reached base to start the inning, with Platte finding home off an error from the shortstop.
Gracie Parker tallied another double, sending home two Terriers to put Wofford up 10-3. A few batters later,
Kaytlin Greenwood had a two RBI single to increase her tally to six in the game.
Abbi Campbell singled up the middle to score Devine, giving the Terriers a 13-3 advantage.
Addison Lucier drove in Greenwood off a sacrifice fly, and
Brianna Stanley singled to right field to score the final two runs of the game. Wofford would hold on to win 15-3 in game one.

GAME TWO
Margaret Axelson pitched game two, suffering her eighth loss of the season.
Sydney Baker pitched the final 5.1 innings of the game, allowing four runs on nine hits.
Addison Lucier led the team offensively, going 2-of-3 with one RBI and one run scored.
Brianna Stanley went 2-of-3 with an RBI, and
Rivers Sampson had one RBI as well.

Wofford started the game with two runs in the first inning to take a quick 2-0 lead.
Addison Lucier was hit by a pitch to start the game.
Rivers Sampson sent Lucier home with a double to left center. An error by the ETSU second baseman would score Sampson, putting Wofford up 2-0. ETSU responded, however, scoring three runs in the bottom half of the frame to retake the lead, 3-2. After both teams went scoreless in the second, the Bucs added another run in the fourth to stretch the lead out to 4-2. Wofford put runners in scoring position in both the fourth and fifth innings but could not find home. ETSU would extend its lead to 7-2 in the bottom of the fifth.

In the top of the seventh,
Kaytlin Greenwood started the inning with a leadoff single.
Abbi Campbell followed behind with a double down the right field line, leading to an RBI single from
Addison Lucier. With one out,
Brianna Stanley singled off the center field fence to score Campbell. Back-to-back outs ended the game, however, as Wofford lost 7-4.

The team will be back at home for a midweek matchup against Winthrop on Wednesday, April 22, at 6:00 p.m. Wofford will follow that up with a weekend series at Furman on April 25-26.
