SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Wofford College softball team trailed 6-4 in the bottom of fifth to the Winthrop Eagles but scored seven unanswered runs to earn an 11-7 victory on Wednesday evening at Hope Field. The Terriers improve to 29-15 on the season with the win.

Sydney Baker got the start, which was just her second of the season. Baker threw 3.0 innings, allowing three earned runs on five hits.
Natalya Salo recorded the win, improving her record to 8-3 on the season. Salo tossed 4.0 innings with three runs allowed on five hits.
Kate Platte led the team offensively after going 2-of-3 with three RBI and her first career home run.
Addison Lucier tallied one hit, two runs scored, and two RBI.
Kalli Petty went 2-of-4 with two RBI as well.
Brianna Stanley,
Gracie Parker, and
Abbi Campbell each recorded an RBI.
Gracie Parker led the team with one stolen base. Wofford out hit Winthrop 12-10 while only committing one error to Winthrop's two.

Winthrop took an early lead after scoring one run in the top of the first inning, and the Eagles were able to add two more runs in the second to take a 3-0 lead. Wofford responded, however, scoring four runs in the bottom half of the frame to take its first lead of the contest.
Gracie Parker started the inning with a triple to right center. That was followed by a
Kalli Petty RBI single to get the Terriers on the board. An error from the Winthrop third baseman scored Petty later on.
Abbi Campbell scored
Desirae Devine from a squeeze bunt on the next at bat, tying the game at three-all. Another error from Winthrop scored
Kaytlin Greenwood to put the Terriers up 4-3 at the end of the second. Winthrop responded with a run in the third to once again tie the game at four runs apiece.

In the top of the fourth, Winthrop added two more runs to grab a 6-4 advantage over Wofford. The Terriers answered in the bottom of the fifth, scoring three runs to lead the Eagles 7-6.
Addison Lucier walked to start the inning, and
Kate Platte followed that up with a two-run homer – the first of her career. With the game tied 6-6,
Rivers Sampson doubled to left field.
Gracie Parker advanced Sampson to third with a successful bunt.
Kalli Petty grounded out later but was able to score Sampson to put Wofford ahead 7-6.

After a scoreless sixth inning for Winthrop, the Terriers found four more runs to give the team an 11-6 lead. Back-to-back singles from
Kaytlin Greenwood and
Abbi Campbell started the inning.
Addison Lucier followed that up with another single, this time scoring Greenwood. On the next at bat,
Kalli Petty singled up the middle to score Campbell. Another Single from
Brianna Stanley drove in Lucier. The final run of the inning was scored by
Kate Platte, putting Wofford up 11-6. In the top of the seventh, Winthrop threatened with a bases loaded situation. The Eagles scored one run, but the Wofford defense held firm from there to secure an 11-7 victory.
