MACON, Ga. –The Wofford baseball team lost its series finale against Mercer 13-8 at OrthoGeorgia Park on Sunday afternoon. The Bears (32-12, 7-5) put up seven runs in early innings before the Terriers (30-14, 8-4) answered with five runs of their own. Wofford cut the lead to 11-8 after seven innings, but two more runs by Mercer in the eighth put the game out of reach.
John Gray (1-2) started on the mound for the Terriers, giving up four hits and five runs with one strikeout.

Sheldon Egger, and
Hiram Lewis followed in relief from the Terriers' bullpen. Wofford had 15 hits in the game to twelve for the Bears.
Andrew Mannelly led the way with three hits and
Niko Brini had a pair of RBIs. Four Terriers had home runs in the game, three of which were solo shots.
The Bears put three runs on the board in the bottom of the first inning. Mercer's batting order kept it rolling with a two-RBI home run deep to left field for a 5-0 lead. A wild pitch and a walk gave Mercer two more runs for a 7-0 advantage after two innings. The Terriers started the third inning with a double by
Lucas Manning. A ground-rule double by
Niko Brini brought in the Terriers' first run of the game.
Logan Tribble followed with an RBI single to cut the lead to 7-2. Wofford fended off the Bears in the bottom of the inning.
With two outs in the top of the third inning,
Andrew Mannelly singled to right field.
Lucas Manning followed with an RBI single for a 7-3 score.
Cade Collins, on his second pitch, hit a home run deep to right field to bring in two runs to make it a 7-5 game. The Bears answered back with a three-run home run and a sacrifice fly to add four runs to Mercer's tally for an 11-5 lead. The Terriers came into the fifth inning with back-to-back home runs by
Ben Timblin and
Brady Gold to make it an 11-7 game.
The Terriers held Mercer scoreless for three straight innings. In the top of the seventh inning, with two outs,
Andrew Mannelly hit a home run to right field to cut the margin to 11-8. The Bears came back in the bottom of the eighth with a two-RBI single to extend the lead to 13-8. Mercer's pitching staff retired the Terriers in order in the top of the ninth to close out the game.
