SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Wofford College softball team dropped both games of a doubleheader against Samford on Friday afternoon at Hope Field. The team lost game one 4-0 and game two 7-0. Wofford falls to 24-10 on the year with a 3-5 mark in conference play.

GAME ONE
Abby Greenwood got the start in game one, pitching a full seven innings. Greenwood allowed four runs on four hits while striking out five batters. She now posts a record of 10-3 after the loss.
Kate Platte led the team with a 2-of-3 performance at the plate.
Addison Lucier,
Rivers Sampson, and
Lauren Archambault each recorded a hit as well.

Wofford kept Samford off the board in the first inning, but the Bulldogs were able to score three runs in the third to take a 3-0 lead early in the game. Both teams remained scoreless from there until Samford added one more run in the top of the sixth inning. The Terriers threatened in the bottom half of the frame, as
Addison Lucier tripled to right center to start the inning. The team could not find home, however, falling in game one 4-0 to Samford.

GAME TWO
Natalya Salo started in game two, pitching three innings. She allowed four runs on four hits while striking out two batters. With the loss, Salo falls to 7-2 on the season.
Maddie Berry pitched 2.0 innings, allowing three runs on three hits.
Sydney Baker closed the game, tossing 2.0 innings while only allowing one hit and no runs.
Rivers Sampson led the team offensively with a double to left center.
Brianna Stanley also recorded a hit.

Samford started the game hot, scoring two runs in the first inning to take a 2-0 lead.
Addison Lucier made it to second base in the bottom half of the inning, but the team could not convert on the opportunity. The Bulldogs scored two more runs in the third inning to take a 4-0 lead. In the bottom of the fourth,
Rivers Sampson started the inning with a double to left center, but Sampson would not reach home after the inning ended on a double play and a fly out. Samford scored its final three runs of the game in the fifth, as Wofford would lose game two 7-0.

The Terriers are back in action tomorrow afternoon for game three against Samford. First pitch is set for 12:00 p.m.
