Football Begins 2026 Practice

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Wofford College football team reported to campus on Tuesday, July 28. After a day of move-in and meetings, they took the field for the first practice on Wednesday, July 29.

The team is returning a total of 13 starters from the 2025 season that saw the Terriers win six of their last seven games. This includes eight offensive starters, four defensive starters and one returning specialist. An additional 13 players who started games in the fall also return. There are 27 true freshmen on the team.

The first practice began at 7:00 a.m. on Wednesday and lasted just under two hours. The team worked primarily on implementing the systems on offense and defense, along with several team periods.

"For day one, that was a pretty good practice," said head coach Shawn Watson. "We had a really good summer, and I know the guys were looking forward to today because we actually got to play real football. So because of the work we did in the summer, and really during the spring as well, we've got a good football team, and we've got some really great leadership."

The team will be back on the field on Thursday and Friday at 7:00 a.m., before a 9:00 a.m. practice on Saturday morning before taking Sunday off. All practices are open to the public; however, keep in mind that the schedule can change without notice.

The Terriers will open the 2026 season on Saturday, August 29 at home against The Citadel. Season and single game tickets are available by calling the Wofford Ticket Office at 864-597-4090 or visiting www.wofffordterriers.com/tickets.

In addition, Wofford Fan Fest will be held on Friday, August 7, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. as the event will mark the return of "Terrier Town" on Cumming Street in front of Gibbs Stadium.
