Terriers Take Draw Against UNC Asheville 2-2 On Wednesday Night

SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- The Wofford women's soccer team ended in a tie against UNC Asheville in the season opener, 2-2, with UNCA making a late-stage comeback with a goal in the 86th minute.   
 

First Half  

The Terriers and the Bulldogs went back-and-forth in the beginning with UNCA mostly controlling the possession. UNCA had two close chances to capitalize early, with a shot by Graumann going wide in the first minute and a shot by Hogarth-Scott that went high in the third.   

Wofford continued to add defensive pressure to Asheville, which led the Terriers to a goal midway through the first half by Satya Tarafdar with an assist from Julia Grier and Maya Lake in the 25th minute. 

The Terriers continued to up the ante on pressure, ending the first half with possession in the offense zone, 1-0.
 

Second Half  

Wofford, feeling the success of the first half, continued to control possession. At 46:31 Freshman Brooke Moody collected her first collegiate goal with an unassisted long strike from midfield.  

Quickly after, UNCA regained possession and Schreier sunk a shot against Chloe Cundiff, halfing the Terriers lead, 2-1, in the 48th minute.  

UNCA continued to control the game after finding their footing, dominating possession later in the second half. Lilly Graumann slid another goal past the Terriers, evening the score 2-2 at 86:33. 

The Terriers and the Bulldogs continued to fight for possession in the last minutes, but both teams were unable to break the draw, ending the 90 minutes at 2-2.
