GREENVILLE, S.C. -- The Wofford College women's soccer team fell to Furman University, 2-0, in the Southern Conference opener after two goals in the first half on Thursday night in Greenville, S.C.
First Half
Furman commanded the half from the jump, starting the match with four corner kicks and four shots on goal in the first six minutes.
The Paladins found their mark in the back of the net at 8:11 with a goal from Riley O'Brien, giving them an early 1-0 lead.
Furman continued to control possession, remaining mostly in Wofford's defensive zone.
Furman struck again in the final five minutes of the half, with Bri Pinasco scoring an unassisted goal that was awarded after a video review. Furman ended the half with a 2-0 lead over the Terriers.
Second Half
Wofford began the second half turning up the offense, with the Terriers getting their first shot on goal by Maya Lake at 46:55, but it was saved by Reese DeJong.
Furman took back the control on possession, finding nine shots in the second half, but they were unable to capitalize. Both teams remained scoreless in the second half, ending the match at 2-0. Wofford goalie Elizabeth Navola had five saves on the night.
