SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Southern Conference announced its weekly volleyball awards today, and Wofford's Laney Klika was selected as the defensive player of the week. The selections are made by the league office.
 
Klika picks up her third-straight defensive player of the week honor of the season and the sixth of her career. Wofford has had five player of the week selections this year – three from Klika and two from Chloe Smith. Klika is the first Terrier since Abbey Richman (2023) to earn three consecutive SoCon Player of the Week honors.
 
Klika, a senior libero out of Novelty, Ohio, led the conference with 5.75 digs per set across two matches last week. She started the week with 14 digs and five assists in three sets at High Point. Klika followed that up with a season-high 32 digs in five sets against Wake Forest.
 
Klika leads the SoCon and ranks fifth in the nation with 5.40 digs per set. Her total of 232 digs on the season is first in the SoCon and seventh nationally. Klika has posted double-digit digs in 38-straight matches dating back to last season.
 
Wofford closes out non-conference action with a trip to Gardner-Webb on Tuesday, September 22. The Terriers will open SoCon action at Chattanooga this weekend.
