SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- The Wofford College women's soccer team fell to the University of South Carolina Upstate, 1-3, after two goals by Liana Bryant on Thursday night at Snyder Field.
First Half
The Terriers and the Spartans had a tight start, with an even split on possession in the beginning of the first half. Wofford had an opportunity in the 9th minute with a shot from Julia Grier that went wide up top.
At 33:19, the Spartans broke the draw with a goal from a shot into the bottom right by Liana Bryant.
Upstate continued the pressure, dominating possession for the rest of the half, ending the first half with a 1-0 advantage.
Second Half
Going into the second half, Upstate continued to control the possession. Wofford had a chance to score early in the half with a shot from Julia Grier at 48:46 that was saved.
A yellow card on Brooke Moody gave Upstate the advantage, and Liana Bryant had another opportunity to score at 54:15, where she put it past Elizabeth Navola to make it, 2-0.
Wofford quickly responded, putting their first in the net with a goal from Bella Drummond at 67:50, halving the Spartans lead to 2-1. Maya Lake continued to try to even it up with a shot three minutes later, but it was saved.
Upstate silenced the Terriers' potential comeback with a final goal by Jasmyn Mitchner at 75:13. The Spartans remained in possession until the final whistle, ending the match, 1-3.
