Spirit of teamwork lives between Wofford and S.C. State

Spartanburg, S.C. -- The Wofford football team and fans will get an extra boost during Saturday night’s NCAA FCS playoff contest against Richmond. Wofford athletic director Richard Johnson and South Carolina State University director of bands Eddie Ellis are pleased to announce that the SCSU Marching 101 will perform at Saturday’s playoff game at Gibbs Stadium. The SCSU Marching 101 will perform during the game and at halftime.

“It is an honor to have the Marching 101 join us on Saturday,” said Johnson. “We are grateful to Eddie and his staff for working with us to put the trip together on such short notice.”

Members of the Marching 101 will be in two places at once on Saturday, as approximately 30 members of the drumline will be performing at the Big Apple Classic basketball tournament at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

Kickoff on Saturday is slated for 7:00 p.m. and the game will be televised on ESPN GamePlan (other media outlets will be known later in the week).

Wofford College does not have a marching band, routinely acquiring the services of local marching bands to perform at home games. This season five high school bands performed at Gibbs Stadium including Dorman (September 22), Eastside, J. L. Mann, East Rutherford and Chase High Schools (November 3).

The Marching 101 last performed in Spartanburg on September 2, 2006 to great fanfare when the Terriers and Bulldogs met on the gridiron at Gibbs Stadium.
