MACON, Ga. – The Wofford College rifle team took part in the SEARC 4 match on January 24 at Mercer University. The Terriers finished fourth in SEARC and in the NCAA scoring.
Freshman Stephen Bryant was the top shooter for the Terriers, scoring 555 out of 600 points for eighth place overall. Freshman Whitney Junkin had a score of 530 points, while Beth Mellette had 521 points and Cameron Ledbetter finished with 507 points.
A total of 39 shooters, representing 8 schools, fired in the forth match of the season, hosted by Mercer University. Nikita Dees from Birmingham Southern College was high shooter with a 576. John Charlton from the Citadel finished second with a 568, and Evan Bouchard from North Georgia College State University finished third with a 563.
The Citadel took team honors, firing a 2235, followed by Birmingham Southern College (2188) and North Georgia College State University (2185). Wofford was fourth with a score of 2113.
Wofford will host the SEARC 5 on February 14. This upcoming match will also serve as an NRA Collegiate Sectional and NCAA qualifier.
