DAVIDSON, N.C. – The Terrier volleyball team was overturned by Davidson, 3-1 (22-25, 25-15, 16-25, 22-25) in a key Southern Conference matchup Friday night.

With the exception of a brief lead by the Terriers at 14-16, Davidson controlled the first set, using a strong offensive push to take the set by a score of 25-22.

The tables turned in the second set, with Wofford taking an early lead and maintaining the advantage throughout the set. The Terriers picked up 19 team digs and recorded a .243 team attack percentage to take the second set by a decisive score of 25-15.

The Wildcats responded in the third set, jumping out to an early 8-3 lead. The Terriers managed to reduce the deficit to two points at 9-11, but Davidson recovered to take the third set 25-16.

The fourth set was a battle, with Wofford taking an early lead and taking as much as a five-point advantage before Davidson stormed back to tie the score at 16. The Wildcats then went on a six-point run to claim a 22-16 lead before taking the final set 25-22.

The Wildcats were led by junior Sarabeth Peele, who had a match-high 17 kills and recorded a double-double with 15 digs. Libero Molly Crenshaw led the team with 21 defensive saves, while Jordan Benedict contributed 12 kills and three blocks.

Senior Shanna Hughes led the Terriers with 11 kills, and eclipsed the 1,000 career kill mark, while also notching a double-double, picking up 12 digs. Libero Sarah Palmer also had a career night, picking up a career-high 30 digs. A pair of freshman also contributed for the Terriers, with rookie Rachel Woodlee recording 10 kills and Reagan Styles contributing 12 digs and two service aces.

With the loss, the Terriers fall to 17-10 overall and 4-7 in Southern Conference play while Davidson improves to 7-20 on the season and 4-7 in league play. The Terriers will travel to Georgia Southern Saturday to take on the Eagles at 7:00 p.m.
