SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Wofford College rifle team competed twice over the weekend at the SEARC 4 match and at the Mercer Challenge. On Saturday at the SEARC match hosted by North Georgia, the Terriers were fifth. On Sunday at Mercer Wofford won 2186 to 1909.
At the SEARC 4 match, Wofford was led by Jordan Rawl with a 563 to finish seventh overall. Stephen Bryant had a 556, followed by Whitney McJunkin at 523. Cameron Ledbetter fired a 520 and Cody Chesneau shot a 502.
In SEARC, scores were: NCSU 2297; Citadel 2241; North Georgia 2201; Clemson 2183; Wofford 2162; and Mercer 1988. In NCAA scoring Wofford finished 4th. NCAA scores were: NCSU 2295; Citadel Men 2220; North Georgia 2201, Wofford 2162; Citadel Women 2086; Mercer 1988.
In the Mercer Challenge on Sunday, Stephen Bryant took top individual honors with a score of 572. His score was the second highest in team history in international air competition. Jordan Rawl was second overall at 552. Also for Wofford, Cameron Ledbetter and Whitney McJunkin both fired a 531. Cody Chesneau had a score of 499.
The Terriers will continue the SEARC season on January 16, 2010 when the Terriers host UAB.
