Gibbs Stadium turf featured in Super Bowl print ad

Last October, the turf at Gibbs Stadium received more attention than just on Wofford football Saturday.  Between the Chattanooga and Western Carolina games, a film crew from Brite Productions in California and BBDO New York descended on the home of the Terriers to take photos for a Super Bowl print advertisement for M&M’s.

Shown here is the finished product featuring the Michael Strahan M&M on the field at Gibbs Stadium.

“Brite Productions and BBDO New York happened to be in the region filming for another M&M’s project in October and contacted us because they heard about our NFL quality surface.  While most people would look at the ad and never know where it was taken, I can certify it was taken here.  It’s a testament to the hard work that Andy Kiah and our facilities staff put into all our fields to this featured in a Super Bowl ad,” said assistant athletic director for marketing and promotions Lenny Mathis.

The ad can be seen in the January 26 issue of Sports Illustrated among other publications.

Vincent Dixon served as the lead photographer with David Safian serving as the project manager for Brite Productions.  Betsy Jablow was the art producer with Paul Oberlin serving as the art director representing BBDO New York, one of the world’s largest ad agencies.

The photo shoot at Gibbs Stadium was not the only M&M’s ad filmed at Wofford.  The next ad – a basketball feature – will be released in the coming weeks.
