Wofford vs. UNCG Box Score

GREENSBORO, S.C. – Senior Kelly Dwyer hit a pair of free throws with 1.1 seconds left to lead the Terriers to a 57-55 win over UNC Greensboro on Friday. With the win, Wofford completed a season sweep of UNC Greensboro for the first time in program history.

With the score tied at 55 and UNCG holding the ball with a few seconds remaining, Lakiah Hyson put up a floater that missed with nearly three seconds left. In the fight for the rebound, UNCG's Sarah Folwell committed a foul, sending Dwyer to the line for a one-and-one with the game on the line.

Dwyer sank both attempts, beating UNCG for the second time this season. Her 3-pointer with 10.7 seconds left gave the Terriers a 61-60 win over the Spartans on Jan. 8.

The game began with a first half that saw nine ties and neither team leading by more than three points before heading to the locker rooms with the score deadlocked at 26.

Amanda Leigh led the Spartans with a team-high 13 points and matched her career high with seven rebounds, while Hyson had 10 points and seven rebounds of her own for the Spartans. UNCG also matched a school record in the contest, blocking nine shots. Agne Girstautaite and Kendra Smith had four each.

Dwyer and junior Mahagony Williams finished with 16 points each for Wofford, with Williams notching the game's lone double-double with 11 rebounds. Senior Kathlyn Varno fell one board short of grabbing a double-double, recording 10 points and nine rebounds.

The win was Wofford's first-ever in Greensboro, as the Terriers improve to 6-17 on the season and 4-11 in Southern Conference play. UNC Greensboro falls to 7-17 overall and 4-12 in league play.

Wofford returns home Monday, February 15 to host the College of Charleston in a 6:00 p.m. game. The contest will be part of the Terriers’ “Go Pink” campaign to raise money and awareness for breast cancer research.
