Men’s Soccer Falls to UNC Wilmington, 2-0, Sunday Afternoon

WILMINGTON, N.C. – The Wofford men’s soccer team fell to UNC Wilmington Sunday afternoon by a 2-0 score in the final match of the UNCW Courtyard by Marriott Classic. The Terriers fall to 2-3-0 overall while the Seahawks improve to a 2-3-0 record.

UNCW got on the board in the 37th minute of play when Shawn Guderian put a shot past Wofford keeper Ben Limbaugh following a shot by Matt Feigler that bounced off the post.

Ettienne Boulanger gave the Seahawks a 2-0 lead in the 40th minute, scoring following a crossing pass from the left side of the field from Cody Frennea.

Alex Hutchins led the charge for the Terriers, putting three shots on frame, yet was unable to find the back of the net.

Play was physical throughout the entire 90 minutes of action, as six yellow card warnings and 33 fouls were called on the two squads combined.

Limbaugh got the loss for the Terriers, earning two saves while facing six shots. Miike Nichols was in goal for the Terriers in the second half, picking up three saves while facing 11 shots.  Brandon Miller was awarded the win for UNCW, earning seven saves while facing a total of 13 shots.

The Terriers will next be in action on Friday, September 16th as they face Houston Baptist. The match is set for a 7:00 p.m. start time in Houston, Texas.
