Williams Sets Women’s 5k School Record at Winthrop Cross Country Invite

ROCK HILL, S.C. -- Led by Alissa Williams’ school record breaking performance in the 5k, the Wofford women’s cross country team took third place, while the men’s team took sixth place at the Winthorp Cross Country Invite Saturday morning.

Williams' broke the previous mark of 18:42.50 held by teammate Andrea Kelsey with her time of 18:39.14 to finish in sixth place.  Kim Stauffer took 17th with a time of 19:16.51. Sam Hughes and Alyssa Burket took 21st and 22nd respectively with times of 19:21.32 and 19:21.88.  Carly Eagan finished just outside the top 25 with a 26th place finish with a time of 19:27.14 to round out the Terrier scorers.

Wofford finished in third place behind South Carolina and Davidson.

On the men’s side, Trey Parker paced the Terriers with a time of 26.52.29 to earn 26th place.  Matt Menard followed with a time of 27:16.38 in 33rd place, while Justin Whitaker took 37th with a time of 27:27.68.  Russell Baker and Mavrick Harris completed the Wofford scorers with times of 27:30.16 and 28:28.49 respectively.

The Terriers took 6th behind Winthrop, Mount Olive, Spartanburg Methodist, Wingate and Mars Hill.
