CHARLOTTLE, N.C. -- Alissa Williams broke the school record as the Wofford women’s cross country team finished in 14th place at the Charlotte Invite, while the men’s team took 25th Friday night.
Williams led the women’s team in 58th place with a time of 18:33.41 shattering the Wofford school record by six seconds. She now owns the top two spots all-time for the Terriers after breaking the record in the team’s last meet two weeks ago. Alyssa Burket ran a personal best 18:48.94 for 77th place. Carly Egan followed closely behind with a time of 18:51.75 to finish in 81st place, and Katie Kessler finished just outside the top 100 with a time of 19:23.56. Sam Hughes trailed by a minute, 19:24.25, to complete the Terriers top five runners. The Terriers scorers all finished in the top half of the 289-runner-meet.
On the men’s side, Trey Parker finished with a time of 26:39.38 in 95th place, while Russell Baker ran a 27:37.95. Matt Menard crossed the finish line with a time of 27:45.41, and Justin Whitaker notched a time of 27:51.88. Mavrick Harris finished with a time of 27:59.51 to wrap up the Terriers top five.
The Terriers will hit the trails for their next meet on October 14 at the Penn State National and the Upstate Invite on October 15.
