Ralph Polson Becomes 64th President of NSCAA This Past Weekend

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Wofford College men’s soccer head coach Ralph Polson became the president of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) at the NSCAA annual convention this past weekend in Kansas City, Mo.  He will serve a one-year team that will cumulate with the 2013 convention in Indianapolis, Ind.  He just finished a three-year term as the Vice-President of Conventions and Awards of the NSCAA.

Polson has completed four seasons as head coach at Wofford, leading the Terriers to the Southern Conference championship in 2009.  That season, his squad posted 12 victories, which are the most in the program’s Division I history.

Polson holds a USSF A license and has been a member of the USYSA Region III Olympic Development Program coaching staff since 1983. He is a staff coach for the SCYSA State Select Team Program. Since 1992, he has served as the assistant director of the Ralph Lundy Soccer Academy.

Polson was elected to the NSCAA board of directors as secretary in January 2008. He has served the organization as vice president for Convention and Awards, NCAA Division I Men’s All-America committee chair, NCAA Division I South Region All-America committee chair and treasurer of the Walt Chyzowych Memorial Fund.

Based in Kansas City, Kansas, the NSCAA is the largest coaches' organization in the United States. Since its founding in 1941, it has grown to include more than 28,000 members who coach both genders at all levels of the sport - youth, high school, college and professional. In addition to a national rankings program for colleges and high schools, NSCAA offers an extensive recognition program that presents nearly 10,000 individual awards every year. It fulfills its mission of coaching education through a nationwide program of clinics and week-long courses, teaching more than 4,000 soccer coaches each year.

Polson’s election as NSCAA President was featured in the most recent edition of “Wofford Today.”  To view the article by Jo Ann Brasington, please click here.
