SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Southern Conference announced its weekly men's soccer honors with Wofford's
Pepe Hinterschuster receiving defensive player of the week. The selections are made by the league office.
The honor serves as the first of Hinterschuster's career. This is the second selection for the Terriers this season.
Adam Celik received the first nomination on September 30. Wofford has only received two or more player of the week honors two other times in a season, 2023 (4) and 2014 (2).
The Neustrelitz, Germany, native made season-high seven saves against Queen's (N.C.), including two acrobatic efforts, helping the Terriers to their first home win of the season. This mark was just one save shy of his career-high of eight. The sophomore goalkeeper continued his stellar performance in a 2-0 win over VMI. His efforts earned him the only clean sheet in all SoCon play so far. Hinterschuster is now tied for second in clean sheets in the conference.
The Terriers return to play tonight against the (RV) Gardner-Webb Runnin' Bulldogs on Snyder Field with kick-off at 7 p.m. Wofford continues conference play this weekend, hosting Mercer on Saturday, October 11. Both games are available for streaming on ESPN+.
