Wofford Rifle Competes At SEARC 6

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Wofford College rifle team competed at the sixth Southeastern Air Rifle Conference competition and also recorded scores in air rifle and small bore as part of the NCAA Sectional on Saturday and Sunday at The Citadel’s Inouye Marksmanship Center.

In the air rifle portion of the event, Wofford fired a 2162 as a team. N.C. State was the top team at 2280, followed by The Citadel men at 2263. Other schools competing included UAB, North Georgia College and State University, and Georgia Military.

Stephen Bryant led the team with a 573 and finished third, the highest finish ever for a Terrier in a national sectional series. Josh Mangan fired a personal best 560, followed by C.J. Tria with a 524 and Migeul Maceda with a personal best 505. Katie Ball scored a 500 in her first career match.

On Sunday, Stephen Bryant and Josh Mangan shot in the small bore portion of the sectional. It marked the first time Wofford competitors have taken part in small bore. Bryant fired a 538 and Mangan had a 520, with both defeating several seasoned small bore shooters.

The team’s final match of the season will be the SEARC Championships on March 3 hosted by The Citadel.
