SWANNANOA, N.C. – The Wofford women’s cross country team won the UNC Asheville Invitational, while the men’s team took second Saturday morning.
Nicole Klasnic turned in the fifth fastest time in Wofford school history and a new personal best as she took third place with a time of 18:41.50 to lead the Terriers. Alissa Williams followed in fifth place with a time of 18:51.71, while Alyssa Burkert finished in sixth place while a time of 18:55.93. Sam Hughes followed with a 19:02.21 in seventh place, and Marella Angello was the last Wofford runner to score with a time of 19:09.84 in ninth place.
On the men’s side, Ryan Doyle took second with the eighth fastest time in Terrier history as he crossed the finish line in 26:18.99. Alex Michaels followed with a 27:37.04 in 11th place, while Matt Menard finished 12th with a time of 27:40.99. Russell Baker finished two spots back in 15th with a time of 27:42.32, and Justin Whitaker was the final Terrier to score with a time of 28:04.47 in 16th place.
Wofford will compete in the Blue Ridge Open for its next meet on October 12.
