DAHLONEGA, Ga. – The Wofford College rifle team opened the SEARC season on Saturday at North Georgia College and State University. The Terriers fired a 2219 score in SEARC scoring to finish fourth.
N.C. State won with a score of 2317. The Citadel men were second at 2296. Finishing behind N.C. State and The Citadel in the SEARC standings were North Georgia (2245), Wofford (2219), The Citadel women (2209), Clemson (2203), and Georgia Military College (2121).
Leading Wofford was freshman Jim Stanley who fired a 564 in his first NCAA match. Josh Mangan had a 557, while freshman Tommy McKelvey shot a 555. Nygia Bost had a 543 in his first career match, Cody Chesneau recorded a 539, and Olin Ballentine had a 511.
Wolfpack marksman Bryan Cross was the overall top individual with a 582.
The next match for the Terriers will be Saturday, October 13 when Wofford hosts UAB.
