Cross Country Team’s Compete in Charlotte Duals

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Wofford women’s team finished in second place and won two of its head-to-head duals over Gardner-Webb and Limestone Saturday morning while the men’s team only field four runners and were led by Alex Michaels at the Charlotte Duals Saturday morning with both teams running a 5k course.
 
Alissa Williams, who took third overall with a time of 19:22, led the Terrier women’s team. Samantha Hughes followed with a fifth place finish with a time of 19:34, while Katie Kessler took eighth after running a 19:47.  Nicole Klasnic finished 10th after crossing the line in tenth with a time of 19:58, and Alyssa Burket was the final Wofford runner to score with a time of 20:22 in 13th place.
 
On the men’s side, Michaels paced the Terriers with a time of 17:06 good enough for a 21st finished.  Russell Baker took 25th with a time 17:34, while Matt Menard followed with a time of 17:52 in 29th place.  Justin Whitaker followed with a time of 18:11 ad in 32nd place.
 
For the dual meet, the women defeated Gardner-Webb, 17-46, and Limestone, 15-50, but fell to Charlotte, 37-20.
 
Wofford will return to running September 15 at the Winthrop Invitational.
