GREENVILLE, S.C. – The men's soccer team lost its first exhibition game of the 2013 season to Clemson University 3-0 at the MeSA Soccer Complex tonight.
The Tigers got off to an early 1-0 lead in the 17th minute when Alex Stockinger scored inside the six yard box on a pass from Manolo Sanchez. The lead was then extended just before halftime in the 34th minute when Iain Smith slotted home a pass from Sanchez.
The second half was hard fought by the Terriers as they held Clemson to only one goal, which was scored by Thales De Mello Moreno in the 70th minute.
The Terriers return to action for their final exhibition game on Sunday August 25th, when they host Newberry College at Snyder Field at 6:00 pm. They open the regular season on August 30th, when they travel to Statesboro, Georgia to take on Gardner-Webb at 5:00 pm to open the Big South/SoCon Challenge.
