Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Compete at SoCon Championships

KERNSVILLE, N.C.  – The Wofford College men's and women's cross country teams competed in the Southern Conference championships on Friday morning in Kernsville, North Carolina.
 
The men's team finished in 9th place, while the women's team finished in 10th. Furman swept the meet, with the top nine finishers for the men and six of the top ten for the women.
 
Ryan Doyle led the way for the men, posting a time of 25:49.48 in the 8K for 26th overall. Junior Alex Michaels (26:48.29) and freshman Cristian Widenhouse (26:58.27) took 46th and 47th respectively to round out Wofford's top 50 finishes. Hunter McGahee, Jonathan Rice, Justin Whitaker and Ben Hensley all competed as well.
 
The women's team was led by senior Alissa Williams, who posted a time of 18:54.03 for 38th place. Junior Marella Angello was second best on the team with a time of 19:16.20 for 46th, while freshman Anya Bunao capped the Terriers' top 50 finishes, running the 5K in 19:27.20 for 49th place. Others competing for Wofford were Sarah Spiro, Chandler Washburn, Halee Rogers and Kiersten Ellsworth.
