GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Wofford College women's basketball team played its final road game of the 2013-14 regular season on Monday night and was outdueled by UNC-Greensboro, 87-79, inside Fleming Gymnasium.

Wofford trailed by three at the half, 40-37, and the game kept its high-scoring pace through the second. The Terriers took their first lead of the game four minutes into the second half on a 3-ball from sophomore Jordan Frazier, completing a 9-0 run. UNCG responded with an 11-0 run of its own to retake the lead, and after the Terriers cut the deficit to five, Jessica Collins hit back-to-back threes with five minutes remaining to give the Spartans an 11-point lead and put the game out of reach.

The game-changer was in the rebounding column, where UNCG won the battle of the boards 49-28. All 11 Spartans that saw the floor grabbed at least one rebound, with nine of them collecting three or more.

Terrier senior Logan Morris and UNCG's Lucy Mason each scored a game-high 20 points. Morris shot 5-of-11 from the field, was 4-of-7 from beyond the arc and hit all six of her free throw attempts. Mason shot 5-of-8 and 2-of-4 from downtown, adding eight points on 10 attempts from the foul line.

Sophomores Ashton Fleming, Jordan Frazier and Chanel Stokes all completed the game in double figures for the Terriers (5-21, 3-13 SoCon). Fleming scored a career-high 16 points and grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds to post her fourth double-double of the season and second in as many games. Nine of Fleming's 10 boards came in the second half. Frazier put down 16 and added four steals to up her steals-per-game average of 3.0, which ranked No. 6 in the nation heading into the game. Stokes added 12 points and a team-high two assists.

For the Spartans (7-20, 3-13 SoCon), Collins and Janae' Stevenson joined Mason in double figures. Collins scored 19 points, including 15 in the second half alone, and Stevenson scored 13 points. Mason and Bailey Williams finished with six and five assists, respectively.

Both teams shot exactly 42.9 percent from the field – Wofford was 24-of-56 while UNCG was 27-of-63. The Terriers were 7-of-21 from three (33.3 pct.) and the Spartans shot 6-of-14 (42.9 pct.). Wofford also tied its season-high in made free throws with 24, shooting 80 percent from the stripe on the evening. The Spartans shot at a lower percentage of 71.1 percent, but made more free throws with a 27-of-38 showing.

It was all Spartans in the early going on what was Senior Night for Stevenson, the team's lone senior. Stevenson was part of a 6-0 run over the opening 1:15, forcing Coach Farmer to use a quick timeout.

Fleming got Wofford on the board with a 15-foot jumper from the left wing, but UNCG piled on six more to take a 12-2 lead. India Timpton scored the first four before Mason was good for her second field goal of the game.

The Terriers needed a spark and got it from Morris. The Wofford senior hit her first 3-point attempt of the game and scored seven straight Terrier points. It kept the Terriers within striking distance and Kentra Washington drained an open three to cut the lead down to four. Fleming hit another Terrier triple before Stokes was good on a jumper and Frazier hit a pair of free throws to bring the deficit to just one, 23-22, with 6:45 to play in the first.

UNCG re-extended the lead by scoring 14 of the game's next 20 points, which included a 7-0 run to pad the margin back to 11 and another Wofford timeout. The Terriers got it right back, starting with a bucket by junior Michelle Merritt, two more free throws from Frazier and Morris' second trey of the half.

The Spartan lead was 40-37 at the half with UNCG outrebounding the Terriers 21-10. Both teams were shooting the ball well with Wofford above 45 percent and UNCG above 43 percent. Morris led all scorers with 10 points, while Stevenson and Mason each had nine.

Wofford grabbed its first lead on Frazier's triple at the 16:03 mark of the second half. Stokes then got fouled and hit two from the line to cap a 9-0 run with the Terriers leading 50-46, outscoring the Spartans 13-6 in the half.

After scoring just four points in the first half, Collins helped UNCG get right back on top. She hit jumpers on consecutive possessions to tie the game at 50 before Whitney Coleman was good to complete a 6-0 run with the Spartans regaining the lead, forcing Wofford's third timeout of the game.

The stoppage did not halt the run. It grew to 11-0 before Fleming could interrupt by hitting 1-of-2 from the line. Collins was a huge part of the run, scoring nine of 13 points for her team in a three-minute span to push the lead to 59-51.

Morris got Wofford right back in it. She was good for three to stop the bleeding and hit her fourth triple of the game a minute later, making the score 59-57. The two sides went on to trade baskets and the Terriers found themselves trailing 71-65, right in the ball game, with 5:30 to play.

Collins threw down the daggers, draining a three from the right baseline on UNCG's next possession and, after the Spartans got a steal, she hit another 22 seconds later to make it an 11-point game, once more. The Terriers only ever got back within seven.

The Wofford women's basketball team closes out the season next weekend at home, hosting Georgia Southern on Friday and Davidson on Sunday.
