Clemson's Katelyn Reeve would score the game-winning goal late on to put the Tigers up. In the 84th minute, Clemson's Claire Wagner took a shot on goal, which senior keeper Kara Boggs managed to deflect. As Boggs got up, a Clemson forward collided with her, sending her to the ground. The Terrier defense did their best to keep the goal out, but a wide pass from Katie Beuerlein was intercepted by Reeve before she struck it home.
Boggs would be helped off the field, with senior Shonte Campbell playing the remaining six minutes of action in goal for the Terriers.
Junior midfielder Mary Beth Bleekrode would take the Terriers' lone shot in the 87th minute, but was unable to find the back of the net.
Boggs' 12 saves were tied for the fourth most in a single game at Wofford. Boggs also had a 15 save performance last year, on November 3, against UNCG, which marked the program's second most saves in a game.
The Terriers were outshot 39-1, and Clemson held the corner kick advantage 19-0.
Clemson began the match with a heavy press and kept the ball in their attacking third for the majority of the game. The Tigers got off multiple attempts in the first few minutes, but couldn't find the back of the net. In the 11th minute Boggs logged her first save of the match in a one-on-one scenario, in which she dove on a shot from Clemson's Paige Reckert. A minute later Boggs would add a pair of athletic saves, leaping to deflect two high shots coming off of Clemson corner kicks.
Senior forward Annika Jansson had a promising run in the 15th minute, making the first real chance for the Terriers. Jansson found herself one-on-one with the keeper before eventually being called offside.
The Terriers continued to endure pressure from the Clemson attack. The period ended on a sliding defensive block by Mary Kathryn Macklen, saving a near goal in the 44th minute. The two teams entered halftime knotted at nil, despite Clemson's 23 shots.
The second half began with more offense from Clemson. In the 49th minute, junior defender Lucy Etro made a crucial defensive save, sending the threatening ball away. The ball was shot again on the rebound by Allie Kington, but Boggs leapt for another goal-thwarting save.
The two teams felt each other out and played back and forth until the 84th minute, where Reeve scored the game winner.
Despite her 12 save performance, Boggs drops to 3-2-0 on the season, while Hunter Rittgers earns her first win of the season at 1-0-0.
