ASHEVILLE, N.C. – Wofford College junior Ryan Doyle and senior Alissa Williams posted team best times for the men's and women's cross country teams respectively on Saturday afternoon at the Asheville Carnival, hosted by the University of North Carolina-Asheville.

Doyle finished 24th with a time of 26:21.40 for the men's team in the 8K, while Williams posted a 19:41.28, good for 32nd in the women's 5K. The Terrier men would secure and eight place finish as a team, while the women came in ninth in the second meet of the season.

The University of Alabama swept the meet, taking first in both men's 8K and the women's 5K. Alabama sophomore Robbie Farnham-Rose took first in the men's race with a 25:04.98 finish, while the Crimson Tide's junior Katelyn Greenleaf won the women's race, finishing with a time of 17:44.46

Junior Alex Michaels and freshman Cristian Widenhouse rounded out the Wofford men's top three finishes. Michaels posted a 26:48.15 time for a 34th place finish, while Widenhouse finished 40th with a time of 27:20.23. Senior Justin Whitaker and freshman Ben Hensley also ran for the Terriers.

Freshmen Anya Bunao and Chandler Washburn finished second and third, respectively, among Wofford's female participants. Bunao finished 58th with a time of 20:22.81, while Washburn crossed the line three seconds later for 60th. Others racing included seniors Kiersten Ellsworth, Stacey Mangan and freshmen Sarah Spiro, Halee Rogers, Breck Peterson and Alexandra Christopoulos.

The Terriers race next on Friday, September 26. The teams will head to Charlotte, N.C. where they will compete in the Charlotte 49ers Invitational.Â
