SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Former Wofford College student-athletes Dane Romero '09, Andy Strickland '09 and Andrew Stubbs '08 have been selected by the Hall of Fame Committee of the Wofford College Terrier Club Board of Directors as the 2014 inductees into the school's Athletic Hall of Fame.

In addition, the Hall of Fame will honor Harold Chandler '71 as the Distinguished Service Award recipient and Dr. David Wood as Honorary Letterman.

The Hall of Fame will induct its newest class on October 4 when the Terriers host The Citadel in football.

The Hall of Fame recognizes "those former athletes and coaches who, by outstanding athletic achievement and service, have made lasting and significant contributions to the cause of sports at Wofford College, the Spartanburg community, South Carolina and the nation."

Stubbs was a four-time All-Southern Conference performer in men's tennis, while Dane Romero and Andy Strickland are being recognized for performance in football.

Dane Romero '09Romero ranks 15th in school history with 1,954 career rushing yards and is fifth in school history with 32 rushing touchdowns. He earned first team All-Southern Conference honors his senior season as he led the league in scoring. He ran for 23 touchdowns, which is second in school history behind Shawn Graves (24). Romero was named a first team All-American by The Sports Network as he posted 1,078 yards on 210 carries in twelve games. As a junior, Romero played in 10 games for the Terriers with 41 carries for 360 yards and five touchdowns. He started 10 games as a sophomore and was Wofford's fourth-leading rusher with 335 yards on 51 carries. Romero initially came to Wofford as a quarterback, earning a backup role along with Ben Widmyer behind Josh Collier as a freshman. He was named SoCon Freshman of the Week following his efforts against Gardner-Webb on November 19 with nine carries for 110 yards and two touchdowns. Romero ended his freshman year with 181 yards rushing and two touchdowns on 18 carries. He graduated with a degree in finance.

Andy Strickland '09Strickland was the football team's leading receiver in 2006, 2007, and 2008. For his career, he had 1,544 receiving yards (sixth in school history) and 84 receptions (eighth in school history). His 15 career receiving touchdowns rank third in school history. As a senior in 2008, led team with 34 catches for 656 yards and seven touchdowns to earn second team All-Southern Conference honors. His seven touchdowns in a single season rank fifth in school history and he started all 12 games as team reached the NCAA FCS Playoffs. During his junior season in 2007, started all 13 games at wide receiver and led the team in catches with 39 for 599 yards and five touchdowns. The 599 receiving yards were the seventh-most in school history and he ranked ninth in the Southern Conference in receiving yards and tenth in the conference with 46.1 yards per game. He led team with 14 receptions for 183 yards and two touchdowns as a sophomore. As a freshman in 2005, Strickland caught six passes for 106 yards on the year. He graduated with a degree in finance. After Wofford, he signed as a rookie free agent with the Jacksonville Jaguars and spent time on the Atlanta Falcons practice squad.

Andrew Stubbs '08Stubbs was a four-time All-Southern Conference honoree in men's tennis. For his career, Stubbs posted a 45-40 record at #1 singles (22-15 in SoCon matches). In his senior season, he was 15-8 at #1 singles and 8-13 in doubles to earn All-Southern Conference honors. As a junior, Stubbs recorded an 11-9 record at #1 singles and was named All-Southern Conference. During his sophomore season he was 12-8 at #1 singles to earn All-SoCon honors and was also 10-9 in #1 doubles. As a freshman, he played #1 singles and earned All-SoCon honors with a 7-15 record (5-5 SoCon). Stubbs graduated in 2008 with a degree in finance. His sister, Krissy Hall, is currently the women's tennis coach at Wofford.

Dr. David Wood, Honorary LettermanWood came to Wofford in 1997 to serve as vice president and director of athletics, leading the college into its first year of Southern Conference Division I intercollegiate athletics competition. In 2001, he became senior vice president, and in 2007, he was named dean of the college. He was named provost in 2013 and became the college's senior vice president for development on July 1, 2014. Before coming to Wofford, Wood was provost at Tusculum College in Greeneville, Tenn. He is a graduate of Elon University and received the master's degree from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill and the doctorate in higher education administration from Vanderbilt University.

Harold Chandler '71, Distinguished Service AwardChandler, a native of Belton, SC, was Wofford's starting quarterback in 1969 and 1970 and threw for 3,039 yards in his career. He quarterbacked the 1970 team that played for the NAIA national championship. A Phi Beta Kappa inductee, he graduated from Wofford in 1971. Chandler began his business career in 1972 with The Citizens & Southern National Bank of South Carolina and eventually became its president. In 2004, he became chief operating officer of New Jersey-based Univers Workplace Solutions, a benefits firm. He has served on the board of Milliken for over a decade, including as the non-executive chairman of the board. Milliken was one of seven corporate boards that Chandler has served on as a director and he is also currently chairman of the board of trustees for Wofford College.
