GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Wofford College men's and women's cross country teams ran at the Southern Conference Championship on Saturday morning at the Furman University Golf Course. Both the men's and women's teams finished in eighth place overall, the best in school history.

"I am really proud of both the men and the women for their performance today," said head coach
Johnny Bomar. "The guys ran a real strategic race and it was the first time all five scorers finished in under 27 minutes. The women went out a little fast, but overcame that to put together a strong finish. We had three runners receive All-Freshman recognition and overall it was a good day for the Terriers."

The men's 8K event began the competition. Freshman
Cisco Ferre was the top finisher for Wofford with a time of 25:51.89 to place 29
th overall.
Cristian Widenhouse was 45
th with a time of 26:28.96 and
Alex Michaels was 50
th at 26:34.05.
Joe Harbacevich was 53
rd at 26:47.7, followed by
Ryan Doyle at 55
th in 26:52.94,
Dane Szalwinski in 68
th at 27:50.50 and
Ben Boatwright at 69
th in 27:52.39. Also running were
Jonathan Rice and
Ben Hensley.

The men's eighth place finish was the best in school history, with the point total of 216 the lowest as well. Furman won the men's race with 20 points. Wofford finished ahead of Mercer and The Citadel.
Cisco Ferre was named to the All-Freshman Team, only the second Terrier to ever receive the honor (Trey Parker, 2009).

In the women's 5K event,
Anya Bunao was the first Terrier to cross the finish line with a time of 19:54.37 to finish 31
st overall.
Alexandra Forster was 38
th in 20:18.52, followed by
Rebeka Fadgyas in 320:23.50 to place 40
th.
Marella Angello was 43
rd in 20:34.68, Jami Barnett was 46
th in 20:37.23,
Sarah Spiro was 55
th in 20:51.59,
Halee Rogers was 63
rd in 21:20.94 and
Breck Peterson was 65
th in 21:33.78.

Furman won the women's race with 33 points. The eighth place finish by Wofford tied for the best in school history (1998, 2013) and the 193 point total was the lowest in school history. The Terriers finished ahead of VMI and The Citadel.
Rebeka Fadgyas and
Alexandra Forster were named to the All-Freshman Team, joining
Alissa Williams (2011) as the only Terriers to receive the honor.
