Grand Slam Propels Baseball to Win

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – A grand slam by Cody Miller in the third inning helped the Wofford College baseball team to a 7-5 win over Evansville on Saturday afternoon at Russell C. King Field. With the game tied at two, Miller's home run gave the Terriers a 6-2 lead. Both teams scored a run in the fifth inning and the Purple Aces added a two-run homer in the eighth, but Wofford held on for the win.

It was the first home run of the season for Miller (second of his career) and it was the first grand slam for Wofford since March 22, 2014 (James Plaisted at Davidson).

The Purple Aces walked to lead off the fourth inning, but a fly ball and double play ended the top half. Demetrius Jennings walked to start the bottom of the fourth, however was unable to advance past second base. In the top of the fifth, a single was followed by a two-out double by Boomer Synek to cut the lead to 6-3.
