SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Wofford College baseball team evened the weekend series with Gardner-Webb with a 13-9 win on Saturday afternoon at Russell C. King Field. The Terriers took a 3-1 lead after the first inning and scored a season-high 13 runs. The Runnin' Bulldogs scored five runs in the top of the ninth inning for the final margin.

Wofford is 13-7 on the season, while Gardner-Webb is 18-3 overall. The Terriers were led by
Kody Ruedisili with two doubles and three RBIs, while
Demetrius Jennings had three hits.
Chandler Engel added a pair of RBIs. Gardner-Webb was led by Collin Thacker, who was 3-of-4 from the plate with two RBIs.

Gardner-Webb took an early lead when Collin Thacker hit an RBI single with two runners on. The bases were loaded with one out, but a fielder's choice and fly ball to center field ended the scoring chance.
Alec Paradowski opened the Wofford half of the first with a walk and he moved to second on a ground out. A single by
McClain Bradley scored Paradowski to tie the game. A single by
Brett Hash gave the Terriers runners on the corners with one out. On a strikeout, a double steal scored Bradley for a 2-1 lead. An RBI single by
Cody Miller added a run as Wofford took a 3-1 lead at the end of the first inning.

After the Runnin' Bulldogs were retired in order in the top of the second, the Terriers left one runner on base to end the second inning. With one out in the top of the third, Gardner-Webb loaded the bases with three singles. A fielder's choice plated a run to make it a 3-2 game in the middle of the third inning.

McClain Bradley singled up the middle and
Brett Hash walked to begin the bottom of the third inning.
Demetrius Jennings was safe on a bunt to load the bases.
Cody Miller hit into a fielder's choice, with the lead runner out at home.
Chandler Engel reached on a fielding error and a run scored for Wofford. With the bases loaded, a double to right center by
Kody Ruedisili drove in three runs as the Terrier lead was 7-2. A fielder's choice by
Alec Paradowski added a run for an 8-2 advantage at the end of three innings.

In the fourth inning, Gardner-Webb was retired in order and Wofford stranded one runner after a single. The Runnin' Bulldogs had two singles in the top of the fifth, but the runners were left on base. With one out in the bottom of the fifth,
Kody Ruedisili hit a ball off the fence in left field for a double. A single by
Derek Hirsch drove in Ruedisili for a 9-2 lead before the end of the fifth inning.

Gardner-Webb added a pair of solo home runs in the top of the sixth inning by Jacob Walker and Mason Fox to cut the score to 9-4. Wofford got one run back when
McClain Bradley led off the bottom of the sixth with a walk and stole second. He took third on a wild pitch and scored on a single from
Demetrius Jennings.
Chandler Engel added an RBI single with two outs for an 11-4 advantage.

The Runnin' Bulldogs left one runner on base in the top of the seventh inning. In the bottom of the seventh,
Alec Paradowski walked with one out.
Ty Reginelli had a single for his first career hit and a fielder's choice scored Paradowski to make it a 12-4 game.

Gardner-Webb was retired in order in the top of the eighth inning.
Mack Nathanson led off the bottom of the eighth with a solo home run that hit the top of the fence in left field and bounced over into the trees for a 13-4 lead. Wofford left one runner on base to end the eighth inning. In the top of the ninth, the Runnin' Bulldogs loaded the bases with a single and two walks. A sacrifice fly made it a 13-5 score, but a hit by pitch kept the bases loaded. A single drove in a run and then a double by Justin Kunz with the bases loaded added three runs. A fly ball to center field ended the game with a 13-9 final tally. Â

Wofford starting pitcher
Adam Scott (3-1) threw six innings with four runs allowed on nine hits. He struck out four batters with one walk.
Spencer Kulman worked an inning with three strikeouts.
Cole Bradley made his first career appearance and had one strikeout in an inning without allowing a baserunner.
Quintin Pile went a third of an inning with five runs allowed on two hits and
Grant Byers gave up one hit in the final two-thirds of an inning.

Jeremy Walker (4-1) started for the Runnin' Bulldogs and went five innings with nine runs allowed on eleven hits. He had five strikeouts and two walks. Aaron Stewart threw an inning with two runs allowed on two hits. Jarrett Thompson and Ryan Boelter each went an inning with one run allowed on one hit.

The three-game weekend series against Gardner-Webb will conclude on Sunday at Gardner-Webb with a 5:00 p.m. first pitch. Wofford will host Lafayette on Tuesday at 5:00 p.m.
