SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Wofford College baseball team split a doubleheader with Ohio University on Saturday at Russell C. King Field. The Terriers took a 4-0 lead after two innings and won the first game 6-3. The Bobcats pounded out 23 hits in the second game as they took a 16-2 win.
 
Wofford is 9-3 on the season, while Ohio University is 4-6 overall. On the day, Wofford was led by 
Max McDougald with four RBIs and 
Adam Scott had eight strikeouts in the first game. The Bobcats leading hitter was Manny De Jesus with six hits and seven RBIs in the two games.
 
In the first game, a lead-off walk was followed by an RBI double from Ty Black to give the Bobcats an early 1-0 lead. 
Alec Paradowski and 
Max McDougald walked to open the Wofford half of the first inning. A single by 
Brett Hash loaded the bases and a walk by 
Cody Miller tied the game at 1-1. A ground out into a double play added a run and a ground out ended the inning with a 2-1 advantage.
 
The Bobcats had a single to begin the second inning, but the runner was stranded at second base. Wofford had the bases loaded with no outs after a double by 
Alex Malsch, single by 
Demetrius Jennings and a walk to 
Alec Paradowski. A single by 
Max McDougald drove in two runs for a 4-1 lead, but the Terriers stranded two runners at the end of the second inning.
 
Manny De Jesus singled to begin the third inning for Ohio, but was caught stealing for the third out. Wofford stranded one runner at the end of the third frame and Ohio was retired in order in the top of the fourth inning. With a runner at first after a hit by pitch, a double play and a ground out ended the fourth inning for the Terriers. The Bobcats led off the fifth with a walk and the runner advanced to third after a sacrifice bunt and a wild pitch. A two-out infield single by Manny De Jesus drove in the run for a 4-2 score.
 
Wofford was retired in order in the bottom of the fifth inning. With one out in the top of the sixth, the Bobcats had two runners on base after a single and a hit by pitch. A fly ball to left and a strikeout ended the scoring chance for Ohio. 
Demetrius Jennings had a two-out single in the bottom of the sixth and 
Alec Paradowski drew a walk. After the runners advanced on a wild pitch, a single up the middle by 
Max McDougald drove in both for a 6-2 advantage at the end of six innings.
 
Ohio was retired in order in the top of the seventh inning and Wofford had a single from 
Kody Ruedisili in the bottom half. With two outs in the top of the eighth, the Bobcats had back-to-back singles up the middle before a ground out ended the scoring chance.
 
McClain Bradley led off the bottom of the eighth with a double to right center. Three straight strikeouts ended the eighth inning. In the top of the ninth with two outs, Tyler Finkler doubled. A single to right field by Manny De Jesus drove in the runner, but a ground out ended the game with Wofford winning 6-3.
 
Wofford pitcher 
Adam Scott (2-0) went seven innings in his start and allowed two runs on five hits, along with eight strikeouts. 
Elliot Lance threw an inning and did not allow a run on two hits. 
Jordan Accetta gave up one run on two hits and had one strikeout in the ninth inning.
 
Gerry Salisbury (0-2) started for Ohio and went just two-thirds of an inning with two runs allowed and four walks issued. Logan Jacik threw five innings and allowed four runs on four hits with one strikeout. Tom Colletti went the final 2.1 innings without allowing a run with three hits and five strikeouts.
 
In the second game, Ohio left one runner on base in the top of the first after a single. On the first pitch in the bottom of the first inning, 
Alec Paradowski cleared the fence in right center for a 1-0 lead. It was his first home run of the season and eighth of his career. The Terriers left one runner on base to end the first.
 
The Bobcats had back-to-back doubles with one out in the top of the second to tie the game at 1-1. After Wofford was retired in order in the bottom of the second, Ohio led off the third with a single. With two outs, a single by John Adryan drove in a run to take a 2-1 advantage. One Terrier was left on base at the end of the third inning.
 
With one out in the top of the fourth inning, the Bobcats had a single and a walk. A two-out double by Manny De Jesus to right center scored both runners for a 4-1 lead. The Terriers had two runners reach base in the bottom of the fourth on walks, but they were stranded. Ohio began the fifth inning with a single and an RBI double by John Adryan to push the score to 5-1.
 
Wofford loaded the bases after three walks in the bottom of the fifth with two outs. A walk to 
Cody Miller plated a run for a 5-2 game, but a fly ball ended the fifth with the bases loaded. The Bobcats had a single and double to begin the sixth inning. A total of four runs were scored on five hits in the frame as Ohio had a 9-2 lead. The Terriers were retired in order in the bottom of the sixth inning.
 
In the top of the seventh inning, the Bobcats added a runs on a sacrifice fly and an RBI single for an 11-2 lead. With one out in the bottom of the seventh, 
Max McDougald and 
Carson Waln had back-to-back singles. A walk to 
Brett Hash loaded the bases, but a strikeout and fielder's choice ended the scoring chance. The Bobcats added five runs on four hits in the top of the eighth inning. Wofford left one runner on base in the bottom of the eighth. Ohio added two more hits in the top of the ninth, but did not score. The Terriers were retired in order in the bottom of the ninth to end the game.
 
Wofford pitcher 
Grant Byers (0-1) made his first career start and allowed four runs on six hits, with one strikeout. 
Connor Foltyn worked an inning with one run allowed on three hits. 
Spencer Kulman threw two-thirds of an inning and gave up four runs on five hits with two strikeouts. 
Will Fuqua did not allow a hit in two-thirds of an inning and recorded his first career strikeout. 
Quintin Pile added an inning on the mound with two runs allowed on three hits and one strikeout. 
Chris Sheehan went an inning and gave up five runs on four hits. 
Thomas Tatham made his first career appearance and gave up two hits with one strikeout in the top of the ninth.
 
Connor Sitz started for Ohio and worked 4.2 innings with two runs allowed on one hit. He walked seven batters and had four strikeouts. Jake Roehn (1-0) gave up just two hits in 2.2 innings with a pair of strikeouts. Corey Wells did not allow a base runner in two-thirds of an inning. Brian Schiemann worked the final inning and did not allow a hit.
 
Wofford and Ohio will conclude the weekend series on Sunday afternoon at 1:00 p.m.
