SPARTANBURG, S.C. – On Friday night, the Wofford College baseball team was defeated 5-3 by East Tennessee State at Russell C. King Field. The Bucs had four solo home runs in the game to even the weekend series.

Wofford is 28-24 overall and 10-10 in the Southern Conference. ETSU is 23-26 on the season and 10-10 in the league. The Terriers left eleven runners on base in the game and were led by
McClain Bradley with a pair of hits. The Bucs had two solo home runs by Hagen Owenby and Aaron Maher had a solo home run and a double.

With two outs in the top of the first inning, Hagen Owenby hit a solo home run for a 1-0 lead. The Terriers had a single from
Brett Hash and
Dylan May walked with two outs. A single by
McClain Bradley loaded the bases, but a ground out ended the scoring chance. After the Bucs were retired in order in the top of the second,
Kody Ruedisili tripled with one out in the bottom half. A sacrifice fly by
Demetrius Jennings scored Ruedisili to tie the game at one.

The Bucs opened the third inning with a single. A sacrifice bunt advanced the runner and a passed ball moved him to third. A ground out scored a run for a 2-1 lead. Back-to-back solo home runs by Hagen Owenby and Aaron Maher pushed the score to 4-1 in the middle of the third. Wofford was retired in order to end the third frame and ETSU went in order in the top of the fourth.

Wofford had two outs in the bottom of the fourth when three straight walks loaded the bases. A fly ball ended the scoring opportunity for the Terriers. The Bucs left one runner on base in the top of the fifth inning.
Brett Hash led off the bottom of the fifth with a walk, but was unable to advance. With two outs in the top of the sixth, a solo home run by Blake Rowlett made it a 5-1 game. Wofford was retired in order to end the sixth inning. ETSU stranded one in the top of the seventh after a runner reach on an error.

Alec Paradowski had a double in the left corner to lead off the bottom of the seventh. After a ground out,
Brett Hash walked to give Wofford runners on the corners. With two out, a single through the right side by
McClain Bradley scored Paradowski and a single up the middle by
Max McDougald scored Hash for a 5-3 score. A strikeout ended the seventh with two runners stranded.

In the top of the eighth inning, the Bucs left one runner on base after a two-out double. Wofford was retired in order to end the eighth and ETSU went in order in the top of the ninth.
Derek Hirsch had an infield single to lead off the bottom of the ninth and moved to second on a ground out. A pair of fly balls ended the game.

Wofford starting pitcher
Jacob Condra-Bogan (5-5) went six innings with five runs allowed on seven hits, along with two strikeouts.
Austin Higginbotham threw 1.2 innings and did not allow a hit with three strikeouts.
Jordan Accetta went the final 1.1 innings with a hit and a strikeout.

Logan Gentry (1-0) started for ETSU and in three innings allowed one run on three hits with one strikeout. Blake Smith walked three batters in two-thirds of an inning. Griffin Kreig worked three innings with two runs allowed on three hits and three strikeouts. Peyton Taylor earned his fourth save of the year by going the last 2.1 innings with one hit allowed and three strikeouts.

The two teams will conclude the series on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. Wofford will end the regular season with a three-game series at Furman beginning on Thursday, May 19.
