ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The Wofford College men's and women's cross country teams competed on Saturday afternoon at the Asheville Cross Country Carnival. The men finished third overall, while the women were second on the course at Asheville Christian Academy.

The men's 8K race began the day and
Cisco Ferre was the top Wofford finisher 27:14.90 to take eighth place. He was followed by
Cristian Widenhouse at 27:16.20 and
Jack Zemp at 27:24.39.
Ethan Epstein (27:44.87) and
Jonathan Rice (28:31.25) rounded out the top five for the Terriers. Also running were
Ben Boatwright,
Dane Szalwinski, and
Will Stutts

In the women's 5K race,
Mary Stewart Wilson crossed the line in 19:38.84 to finish sixth overall.
Taryn Schoen (19:40.86),
Anya Bunao (19:47.69),
Shannon McAndrew (20:04.93) and
Rebeka Fadgyas (20:48.79) completed the top five finishers for Wofford. Also competing in the meet were
Sommer McKenzie,
Anna Lyles,
Alexa Golbus,
Ashley Golbus,
Madison Paraskeva,
Sarah Spiro,
Jamie Barnett,
Alexandra Christopoulos,
Ashley McCreary, and
Chandler Washburn.

Overall, Western Carolina was first for the men, followed by Fort Wayne, Wofford and UNC Asheville. King, Montreat and Gardner-Webb rounded out the men's teams. Western Carolina also took first place in the women's race, with Wofford second and UNC Asheville, Fort Wayne, Gardner-Webb, King and Montreat rounding out the meet.

Both the men's and women's teams will be back in action on Saturday, September 24 at the Will Wilson Citadel Invitational in Charleston.
