SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Wofford College men's and women's cross country teams opened the 2016 season on Friday night at the 33
rd Eye Opener Invitational at the Roger Milliken Research Center. In a competitive meet, the women finished third overall and the men were fourth.

In the women's 5K race, freshman
Taryn Schoen finished 15
th overall with a time of 19:20.86. Junior
Anya Bunao (19:31.49) was 17
th and freshman Mary Wilson (19:33.49) was 18
th. Freshman
Shannon McAndrew (19:51.49) and sophomore
Rebeka Fadgyas (20:22.78) also finished in the top five scorers for Wofford. Freshman

The men's 8K competition followed and Wofford freshman
Jack Zemp was the top finisher with a time of 26:52.74 for 15

Cisco Ferre (27:55.71) and senior
Jonathan Rice (28:03.18) also scored for the Terriers. Sophomore

David Grant rounded out the Terrier finishers.

Overall, Furman and Clemson were first and second, respectively in both the men's and women's races. The Wofford women were third, followed by Stetson and USC Upstate. USC Upstate was third on the men's side, with Wofford fourth and Stetson fifth.

Both the men's and women's teams will be back in action on Saturday, September 10 at the Asheville Cross Country Carnival.
