CLEMSON, S.C. – The Wofford men's tennis team was unable to overcome a tough Clemson team, losing, 7-0, on Friday afternoon at the Hoke Sloan Tennis Center.

The Terriers loss puts them at an even 2-2 on the season, with their only two losses to ACC foes on the road.

The Tigers were strong out of the gate, taking the first two doubles matches, 6-0, and 6-2, respectively, to earn the first point of the match.

For the Terriers,
Jack Thomas highlighted singles play. The junior from Charlottesville, Va. took the first set over Clemson's Christian Harris, 6-3, before falling in the second set, 6-1. The third set was played as a single tiebreaker, which Harris won, 10-3.

Clemson was able to earn wins from the no. 3 and no. 4 positions to grab a 3-0 lead in the match. First, Sam Edwards defeated
Julian Chousa, 6-2, 6-0, in the no. 4 spot, before Robert Dudley bested
Parks Schoen, 6-2, 6-1, in the no. 3 spot.

Haris Poric put up a strong fight for Wofford in the no. 1 position, forcing a first set tiebreaker, before dropping the set, 7-6 (7-2), and the match, 7-6 (7-2), 6-4.

Kyle Barr also performed well for the Terriers, forcing a first set tiebreak, before falling to Clemson's Brent Lett, 7-6, 6-0.

In the no. 2 position, freshman
Lucas Cerbelli battled against Clemson's Daffra Sanon, the 123
rd ranked singles player in the nation by the ITA. Cerbelli kept the first set even most of the way, but eventually fell, 6-4, before dropping the second set, 6-3.
Up next, the Terriers return home to host Winthrop this Sunday, Jan. 29 at 1 p.m.
