SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Wofford men's tennis team cruised past Gardner-Webb, 5-2, on Tuesday afternoon at Reeves Tennis Center.

The win is the Terriers second straight and improves them to 4-2 on the season.

"We beat a strong team," coach
Rod Ray said. "Gardner-Webb has some really good players."

Wofford established the momentum early on, as they easily took home the doubles point. In the no. 1 position,
Haris Poric and
Julian Chousa easily dispatched the Runnin' Bulldogs, 6-2. A few minutes later, playing at no. 3, the duo of
Lucas Cerbelli and
Jack Thomas won, 6-3, to give the Terriers a 1-0 lead.

"Our doubles play was excellent," said Ray. "We were able to sustain the momentum from there."

In singles play,
Jack Thomas gave the Terriers a 2-0 match lead with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Gardner-We bb's Breno Plentz in the no. 4 spot.

In the no. 3 position, Wofford's
Parks Schoen took care of Adam Schmidt, 6-2, 6-4, to put the Terriers within one win of clinching the match. Minutes later,
Kyle Barr closed out the Runnin' Bulldogs with his 6-3, 6-4 win from the no. 6 position.

Even after the match was clinched, the Terriers continued to battle.
Lucas Cerbelli lost a first set tiebreak, 6-7 (11-9), he responded by winning the second set, 6-0, before taking the third set tiebreaker, 1-0 (10-6).

With the win, the Terriers are now 3-0 at home this season.

Up next, Wofford will make the short trip to USC Upstate this Friday, Feb. 3 at 2 p.m.
