SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Wofford College men's and women's cross country teams competed on Saturday morning at the USC Upstate Invitational. The men finished third overall, while the women were tenth in a highly competitive field that included four SoCon schools.

The women's 5k began the morning. The Terriers' top runners did not compete, as they raced the previous two weekends.
Madison Paraskeva finished first for Wofford in 19:06.04, followed by McKenzie Sommer in 19:54.0.
Jamie Barnett (20:18.0),
Alexandra Christopoulos (21:15.0) and
Anastasia Burroughs (22:01.03) also scored for the Terriers.

The men's 8K competition followed and
Jack Zemp was the top finisher for the Terriers with a time of 26:28.5 to place 23rd.
Cisco Ferre (26:50.6),
Cristian Widenhouse (26:53.8),
Joe Harbacevich (27:18.5) and
Ben Hensley (27:54.0) rounded out the top five. Also competing were
Ben Boatwright,
Walker Gibbs,
Dane Szalwinski and William Stutts.

ETSU won the men's race, followed by Appalachian State and Wofford. USC Upstate, Western Carolina, Winthrop, High Point, Mercer, Coastal Carolina, UNC Wilmington and Gardner-Webb rounded out the Division I field. ETSU also won the women's race, taking a tiebreaker over Appalachian State. Campbell, Coastal Carolina, Western Carolina, Mercer, Winthrop, UNC Wilmington, USC Upstate, Wofford and Gardner-Webb completed the field of Division I teams. Anderson and Newberry (Division II) also competed in both races.

Both the men's and women's teams will be back in action on Saturday, October at the High Point VertCross Invitational. Wofford will the host the Southern Conference Championships on Saturday, October 28 at Milliken Park.
