BELTON, S.C. - The Wofford men's tennis team competed in Belton, South Carolina over the weekend at the South Carolina Collegiate Invitational. Wofford was one of 13Â teams competing in the tournament, including Clemson, Coker College, Anderson University, Lander, Newberry, Limestone College, South Carolina, North Greenville, Furman, Winthrop, and Presbyterian. The Terriers that competed over the weekend consisted of Bryce Keim, Diego Losada, Javi Casasolas, and John Crawford.Â
"We got in a lot of great work this weekend in Belton. The conditions were hot, giving us ample opportunity to dig in and battle in tough conditions. Every guy had the chance to close out winning matches and also learn from coming out short", said head coach Rod Ray. "This was perfect for us because it's so early in our tournament season and we needed the chance to dig in."
John Crawford represented Wofford in the Kriese singles draw, going 2-1 on the weekend with wins over Coker and Presbyterian. Additionally, the duo of Javi Casasolas and Bryce Keim went 4-2 on the weekend in the championship doubles draw, picking up wins against Lander, Presbyterian, and Coker.Â
"The spring season will be here before we know it and things could work out really well if we continue to push ourselves", Ray added. "We're learning, but overall I was pleased with all of our players. On Friday we'll play at the ITA Regionals, where we'll continue to play good competition."
Next, the Terriers will travel to Cary, North Carolina to compete in the ITA Regionals from Friday, October 12 to Tuesday, October 16.Â
