WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wofford men's tennis team competed in Winston-Salem this weekend at the Wake Forest Invitational, hosted by Wake Forest. The weekend was highlighted by a pair of runner-up finishes for the Terriers in singles and doubles play. The Terriers that competed over the weekend include Javi Casasolas, Bryce Keim, Omar Williams, Edu Villar, Kyle Barr, and Diego Losada.
Javi Casasolas represented Wofford with a runner-up finish in the D1 Singles draw, picking up wins over Mercer (6-1, 6-0), Davidson (6-0, 6-7 (5), 7-5), and Wake Forest (6-1, 6-0) before falling in the finals to Richmond.Â
Diego Losada competed in the D2 Singles draw for the Terriers, earning wins over Georgia State's Steven Hyunh (6-3, 2-6, 10-8) and Richmond's Joe Nardini (6-3, 6-2) before coming up short in the semifinals to Gonzalo Adis of James Madison. Bryce Keim was also placed in the D2 Singles draw with wins over Kennesaw State's Gaston Muhammad and UNCG's Logan Blaser (6-2, 7-5).Â
The duo of Edu Villar and Kyle Barr finished runner-up in the B3 Doubles draw for the Terriers, claiming wins over Charlotte (6-4) and Tennessee Tech (7-6 (3)) before coming up short in the finals to Indiana. Additionally, the pair of Diego Losada and Javi Casasolas won the back draw of the B1 Doubles draw, bouncing back with wins over UNC (6-4) and Davidson (6-3).Â
The conclusion of the Wake Forest Invitational wraps up the 2018 fall season for the Terriers. Wofford will open the spring season on Saturday, January 19, where they will travel to face UNC and Bucknell in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Â
