CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Wofford men's tennis team competed in Charlotte over the weekend at the 49ers Fall Invitational, hosted by UNC Charlotte. The Terriers saw competitive play in the singles and doubles flights, while seeing a singles flight winner in Javi Casasolas. Wofford was one of 10 teams competing over the weekend, including Wake Forest, UNCG, Davidson, UNC Asheville, Elon, South Carolina, Gardner-Webb, and host UNC Charlotte. The Terriers that competed over the weekend include Edu Villar, Omar Williams, Julian Chousa, Bryce Keim, Kyle Barr, Javi Casasolas, John Crawford, and Diego Losada.Â
"We were good this weekend, but we can get better in every spot," said head coach Rod Ray. "My expectations are high and we've got to work smarter and with more focus if we're going to achieve our maximum potential."
Javi Casasolas represented Wofford in the C1 Singles flight, going an impressive 3-0 over the weekend to take home the crown with wins over UNCG and UNC Asheville. Additionally, Kyle Barr won the back draw of the B1 Singles flight for the Terriers, going 3-1 over the weekend to earn wins over UNCG, Gardner-Webb, and Charlotte.
Doubles play on the weekend were unable to be completed, though, the duo of Julian Chousa and John Crawford went 2-0 in the A1 Doubles flight, picking up wins over Charlotte and Elon. Bryce Keim and Omar Williams competed in the A2 Doubles flight finishing with an even 1-1 record on the weekend, earning a doubles win against Davidson.Â
Next, the Terriers will compete in the Wake Forest Invitational in Winston-Salem, North Carolina next weekend on November 9-11 to conclude the 2018 fall season.
