CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Wofford College men's and women's outdoor track and field teams began the 2018 season at the 49er Classic at the Irwin Belk Track & Field Center on the campus of UNC Charlotte. The Terriers combined to set five new school records and had numerous top 10 finishes.

On Friday,
Omar Mingo was seventh in the long jump at 7.02 meters.
Conrad Heinrich was 13
th in the javelin at 53.08 meters.
Amber Lust took ninth place in the 100 meter hurdles in 14.46.
Isaiah Ellis was ninth in the men's 110 meter hurdles as he set a new school record in 14.80.
McLeod Dean was fourth overall in the 400 meters, setting a new school record of 56.30.
Hannah Steelman set a new school record in the 1500 meters at 4:28.95 as she was third overall.
Saturday's events began with the 4x100 relay, with the women finishing tenth and the men 18
th overall.
Austin Lufkin was 13
th in the shot put at 15.10 meters. In the discus, Lufkin was third overall with a distance of 50.74 meters which broke the previous school record by more than five meters. In the 800 meters,
Madison Paraskeva was 12
th for the women at 2:15.59, while
Joe Harbacevich was eighth in 1:54.18 for the men.
McLeod Dean was third in the 200 meters at 24.16.
Cisco Ferre was 12
th in the 3000 meters with a school record tying time of 8:45.63. In the 4x800 relay, the women were ninth and they added a 12
th place in the 4x400 relay.

Over 60 teams participated in the meet, including Appalachian State, Campbell, Clemson, Davidson, East Tennessee State, Elon, Gardner-Webb, High Point, Marshall, Pittsburgh, Temple, Towson, UNCG, USC Upstate, VMI, West Virginia, Western Carolina and Winthrop.

The teams will host the Terrier Relays on March 30 and 31 at Spartanburg High School.
