SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Wofford volleyball team announced two additions to its 2019 class on Thursday, adding Robyn Krause and Emory Wyatt. Â
Â
"We couldn't be more excited about finishing our 2019 class with Robyn Krause and Emory Wyatt," said Wofford head coach
Lynze Roos. "Both are outstanding student leaders, and each young woman will bring something special to our program and campus community."
Â
Hailing from Centerville, Ohio, Krause has been a setter for Pensacola State College after playing at Centerville High School. Krause played her first two seasons at Cherokee Trail High School, leading the 2015 squad to a 25-4 record and both conference and state championships. Krause has been named first team all-state, first team all-conference and was named to the Gold Crown All-Tournament Team.
Off the court, Krause is a recipient of the Pirate Award which is given to a student-athlete who exudes leadership and character both on and off the court. Krause, who intends to major in biology, holds a 4.0 grade point average, earning academic honor roll and Dean's List for the last three years. The daughter of Robert and Leigh Anne Krause, Robyn is a member of the National Honor Society and the Spanish Club. Krause comes from an athletic family, as her dad played football at the Air Force Academy, her sisters Ainsleigh and Bethany play collegiate basketball at Mount Vernon and University of Idaho, respectively, and her grandfather played football at Nebraska.
Â
"Robyn played at an extremely high level in high school and continued to develop her skills at the junior college level," Roos said. "She is academic minded, and she will bring some depth to our setting position. We were ultimately impressed with her athleticism, as well as her ability to run a court. She will be a great fit with our core group."
Â
Wyatt comes to Wofford from Wade Hampton High School in Greenville, S.C. Wyatt served as a middle hitter for the last four seasons, lifting the school to back-to-back playoff appearances as a junior and senior, giving Wade Hampton its first playoff appearance in nearly a decade. Wyatt was named all-region as both a sophomore and junior, earning team MVP honors in 2017 and academic All-American status in 2016.
The daughter of Travis and Kendra Wyatt, who played volleyball at Converse College, Emory intends to major in math after serving as National Honor Society President, earning AP Scholar with distinction as well as all-academic honor roll status.
Â
"Emory has been an athlete we've been fortunate enough to watch develop," said Roos. "As a local talent, Emory has impressed us with her commitment to her academics, as well as her abilities on the floor. She has improved every time we've seen her compete, and we feel she will challenge our returners on the court. We love her court presence and her competitive attitude on the floor."
