Nicole Amos (+4) led the Terriers with a pair of top-20 finishes at the Buccaneer Classic, hosted by Charleston Southern, on Tuesday afternoon, as the Wofford women's golf team set a new 54-hole record with a score of 882 (+18) to place sixth out of the 13 teams at the Oak Point Golf Club in Kiawah Island, S.C.
The team performance replaces the previous record of 884 by two stokes, last achieved at the South Carolina State Bulldog Invitational on Oct. 2, 2012.
Earl tied for 16
th to mark her first top-20 finish of the fall season, finishing with the Terriers low round in the first on Monday after birdieing five holes for a 1-under 71, prior to recording a 73 in the second round. Earl recorded a 73 in Tuesday's final round to finish with Wofford's low score of 217 for the tournament.
The Essex, England native led Wofford with 11 birdies for the tournament, as she also was tied for third among the field in par-5 scoring, finishing 5-under with a 4.67 stroke average on par-5s.
Amos tied for 19
th after recording a career-low score of 220 to also add her first top-20 finish of the fall. Amos parred 40 of the tournament's 54 holes – a team-high - finishing even (72) in Monday's first round before finishing 5-over in the second (77). Amos then reeled things back in, firing a career and team-low round in the third with birdies on holes No. 3 and No. 15 to register a 1-under 71.
Wofford (+18) finished with a score of 882, tying for sixth with USC Upstate, as Coastal Carolina (-25) blazed through the Oak Point Golf Club to claim the tournament's crown by 12 strokes over Georgia Southern (-13). Coastal Carolina's Tiffany Arafi (-15) was also tabbed the individual low medalist.
The Terriers scored a win over host Charleston Southern (+23) by five strokes, followed by wins over Radford (+43), Gardner-Webb (+45), Winthrop (+54), The Citadel (+108) and Presbyterian (+114).
Additionally, Wofford ranked third among the entire 13-team field in total pars for the tournament with 167.
Senior
Speedy Kent (+8) tied for 31
st with a score of 224, as freshman
Maggie Jackson (+9) recorded a total score of 225 to finish tied for 35
th. Junior
Lindsey Hollis (+12) tied for 46
th with a score of 228 to round out the Terriers competing.
Wofford returns back to action in Spartanburg, S.C., next week to host the Terrier Intercollegiate at the Carolina Country Club on Monday, Oct. 25-26.
